m&de - Music And Dance Exchange - is a residential interdisciplinary performance laboratory for professional artists and researchers, based at Dartington College of Arts in beautiful rural South Devon. It is an annual event, running during the college Easter vacation. m&de is entirely free of charge to successful applicants. All costs during the lab are generously covered by the programme partners, including all studio spaces, equipment, food, accommodation and mentoring.

m&de allows participants to explore collaborations between the disciplines of music and dance, with the additional involvement of theatre, visual and digital arts, to create starting points for new work.
m&de provides time for artists to investigate new aspects of performance work; to engage in creative practice-based research and focus on process, not product. The aim is to initiate work during the lab and encourage connections through which work may come to fruition at a later date.
"...it was amazing to me how many different directions opened
up, how many permutations of the idea of 'performance' were born of our
working together." - Malaika Sarco
